Circle-S was founded in 2003 by visual effects artist and supervisor, Scott Frankel and Paloma Añoveros. Its mission is to create innovative and photo-realistic images that are compellingly creative and seamlessly integrated to support the story-telling narrative. From concept to execution, Circle-S has the versatility to provide innovative designs, composites, matte paintings, and 3D generated imagery.
With an artist talent pool culled from supervisors and discipline leads, with experience creating the acclaimed visual effects for films including Matrix Revolutions, Lord of the Rings, and Minority Report, Circle-S is uniquely capable of working to the most exacting standards of quality.
Founding member of Circle-S, Scott Frankel, was nominated by the Visual Effects Society for their first award for Best Compositing in a Motion Picture in 2002 for his supervision of the innovative and diverse work in Dreamwork's "Minority Report." He has 12 years' worth of experience creating visual effects, with cedited work on 20 feature films. Most of that experience was gained occupying key creative and technical roles supervising shot production, providing guidance to achieve specific looks, defining appropriate techniques, and ensuring timely delivery of completed material. For over ten years prior to entering the visual effects field, Scott was an independent filmmaker, establishing a reputation for innovation, quality, and a wry sense of humor in the San Francisco Bay Area's vibrant experimental film community. These self-funded productions, shown in group exhibitions at the Roxy Cinema and Kabuki Theaters, among other venues, served as a valuable foundation for his work in visual effects, inter-acting with directors, directors of photography, producers, and laboratory professionals to provide a clear understanding of the filmmaking process in the digital world of computer graphic imaging.
